Description:

In this course, the student will discuss beliefs, values, and concepts such as stigma relative to mental health and illness. The student will study concepts relevant to a balanced understanding of mental illness, and concepts underlying the development of comprehensive services and supports. Using the Niagara Region as an example, the student will analyze the services and supports currently available in the region, and the roles of various interprofessional health practitioners. The student will discuss the fundamentals of mental health, including established and emergent approaches/models for working with people who have mental health problems.
