The application of industrial robots in the manufacturing operations of automated material handling, assembly and other manufacturing processes is the focus of the course. Divided into a theoretical and a practical component, the subject matter will provide the student with a solid foundation in the concepts and mechanics of industrial robots, high-level robotic programming and operation and the design of end-of-arm tooling. Throughout the course, the use of ABB Rapid programming language and RobotStudio graphical programming software will be applied to the manual and offline creation of robot code designed for the control and operation of typical articulating robots found in industry.
