In this course, you will extend the load, stress and strain concepts learned in Mechanics of Materials to mechanical design problems involving engineering materials and failure theories. You will differentiate between static loads and dynamic loads, and design and analyze for both conditions. You will learn and apply the concepts of safety factors and design factors. You will design and analyze welded joints using accepted engineering methods and codes.
