Description:

The student will apply advanced metrology techniques using measurement equipment and software. The applications in this course are related to product design, inspection, and the manufacturing process. Applications will include screw thread measurement and working with the DMIS (Dimensional Measuring Interface Standard) to provide a standard for bi-directional communication of inspection data between computer systems and inspection equipment. The student will generate and manipulate data using inspection equipment and computer systems. The principles and practices of GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) will be applied to measurement.

  • MECH1102 - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing AND
  • CAPT1337 - Computer Aided Design and Rapid Prototyping AND
  • MECH1225 - Dimensional Metrology
