Description:

You will study the development and maintenance practices of a typical Municipal Parks Department. These practices will include maintenance and development of sports fields, passive parkland, formal and informal horticultural display areas and urban forestry. You will learn how to develop a municipal parks budget and how budgetary money is allocated to the Parks Department by senior municipal staff. You will have an understanding of the role and impact that municipal parks have on the health and well being of a community. You will be introduced to the study of the principles of a management plan and how Parks Operations supervisors implement a management plan.
