Description:

In this course you will examine the effects of water, growing media, and fertilizers on plant growth through applied research projects in the Niagara College greenhouse. You will use workshops, discussions and applied research to become familiar with types of growing media, diverse watering and fertilizer techniques and the potential problems with some of these techniques. You will develop skills to help you identify the effects of water, fertilizers and growing media on plant health. You will monitor root zone health in the Niagara College greenhouse and will establish a regular monitoring program for total soluble salts and pH as part of the holistic approach to plant care.
