Description:

You will become familiar with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in ornamental and vegetable greenhouses. You will investigate major insects, diseases, mites and weeds commonly present in commercial greenhouses. You will establish and operate a monitoring program for the Niagara College greenhouse. You develop recommendations for the college greenhouse based on IPM techniques, emphasizing the use of cultural practices and biological controls for the management of different pests. You will also investigate the importance of utilizing bio-rational pesticides in a greenhouse setting. You will study the safe and effective use of pesticides in the context of current provincial legislation.
