Description:

In this course you will examine the factors involved in successfully growing trees in the challenging urban and suburban landscape. By studying tree anatomy and physiology, you will determine how to create and maintain sustainable urban forests. You will research new technologies in tree transplanting and the amelioration of compacted urban soils. You will be able to identify and prevent the potential negative impact of construction on tree health. By pruning trees on the Niagara College campus, you will learn the basic principles of pruning young trees for structure and form.
