This practical course will allow students to experience landscape and garden maintenance in our outdoor living lab. Students will receive equipment and workplace safety training and be introduced to a wide variety of landscape tools. The learning approach is structured through demonstrations and hands-on experiences, allowing students to develop practical work ethics relevant to the horticulture industry. Essential horticultural maintenance skills will be practiced, including principles/practices required during seasonal shifts, planting preparation, and the planting and maintenance of various plants. Safety standards will be stressed for all tasks performed during labs to ensure a safe environment for students and campus visitors. At the end of the course, we hope you will have fostered a love of the landscape through your developing work ethic, teamwork, and an introduction to details beyond the landscape.
