Current Events I provides a framework for understanding and analyzing contemporary events/issues and their relevant contexts (historical, geographic, political and cultural). This analysis includes a consideration of how our understanding of the news is shaped by the media, their biases, and how they report and analyze the news, as well as, the role personal biases play in our reception and interpretation of that news. Particular focus will be placed on the influence of political ideologies and the political cultures/structures of Canada and the United States on our understanding of what's happening in the world today.
