Description:

In this course you will investigate the challenges in providing effective leadership to both event staff and event volunteers. You will gain an understanding of the event manager's role in planning, organizing and developing an effective team. You will compare and contrast the unique roles of staff and volunteers within the key factors influencing human resource decisions including: legal influences, performance standards, health/safety issues and evaluation strategies. You will gain experience in managing the HR cycle: planning, recruitment, interviewing, screening, hiring, firing, training, motivation, scheduling, and compensation. You will be exposed to the various polices, procedures, standards and regulations associated with employees and volunteers.
