Description:

This course will introduce you to the various concepts involved in, and approaches to, natural channel design. Topics covered in this course include; the use of GIS and Geomatics in describing streams morphologically, design principles and parameters; natural channel systems; the major stream classification approaches; empirical natural channel design; stream corridor processes, characteristics and functions; sediment transport fundamentals; and restoration techniques. Your hands-on learning will be enhanced through sites visits, a major outdoor project relating to stream restoration and natural channel design, and an emphasis on regional case studies.
