Description:

A drainage basin's area, topography, soil, and land use all affect the quantity and quality of runoff. Sourcing data and calculating parameters are essential during civil engineering and ecological restoration initiatives, including adjustments related to climate change. In this course, we will use established tools to delineate drainage basin areas, soil types, associated land use, and estimated runoff coefficients from field data and provincial government sources, and to estimate peak flow volume and time of concentration using the Rational method for comparison with local drainage basin field measurements. Students will master runoff water-quality evaluation methods, including thorough quality-control measures in the field and the lab.
