Description:

In this course you will take a practical, hands-on approach to assessing water quality using benthic metrics including the Ontario Benthic Biomonitoring Network (OBBN) protocol. You will learn to assess the characteristics of surface water (physical, chemical and biological) and the measures of water quality using a variety of equipment and techniques. You will be trained in benthic invertebrate collection, identification and interpretation, as well as, the principles of benthic invertebrate taxonomy. Potential certification as an OBNN practitioner is offered as part of this course.
