Description:

This course will provide you with the knowledge and procedures for identifying the names and characteristics of native plants in forests, prairies, wetlands, and other areas. A heavy lab and field component will comprise the majority of this course, introducing you to techniques for identifying various plant materials, including trees, woody herbaceous plants, herbaceous plants, grasses, sedges, aquatic emergents, and submergents. You will also be introduced to the structure and taxonomy of various species. You will become very familiar with using keys and field guides during field and lab work.
