Description:

This course will provide you with the knowledge and procedures used to identify the names and characteristics of native plants in forests, prairies, wetlands and other areas. A heavy lab and field component will comprise the majority of this course, introducing you to techniques used in the identification of various plant material including trees, woody herbaceous, herbaceous, grasses, sedges, aquatic emergents and submergents. You will also be introduced to the structure and taxonomy of various species. You will become very familiar with the use of keys and field guides during field and lab work.
