You will be provided with a basic understanding of the responsibilities and rights stipulated in the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Emphasis will be placed on the principles involved in conducting workplace inspections, audits and assessments of designated substances. You will have the opportunity to gain an understanding for reading and interpreting health and safety laws and regulations. Course modules include an overview of WHMIS legislation, smoking in the workplace, law, functioning of joint committees. You will be required to complete and present an occupational health and safety audit of a designated substance in a chosen workplace.
