In this course you will study the fundamentals of water and wastewater treatment including treatment processes, regulations, and distribution. This course prepares students for the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) Drinking Water and Wastewater Operator-in-Training (OIT) certification. Note: The OIT certification exam is not included in this course and is obtained through an online certification exam. This course also prepares students for the MECP Drinking Water Operators Entry Level Course (ELC). Students are taught the Ontario Ministry curriculum and offered the Ontario Ministry examination for this certification. In this course, you will also explore various Operator-in-Training career pathways and the agencies responsible for granting industry certification which include: the Walkerton Clean Water Centre, the Ontario Water Wastewater Certification Office, and the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
