Description:

Although a field technician may have followed proper sampling procedures and correctly labelled and logged samples, unless the location is precisely determined, interpretation of results or accurate future re-sampling is not possible. This course will teach you how to choose and represent spatial information essential to sampling campaigns and project management. Surveying follows established principles for locating points in space, creating lines between points, and ultimately joining lines to form polygons that represent features on the landscape. Surveyors once accomplished this task with compasses and simple measuring devices. You will use these, along with advanced technologies such as lasers and satellites, to map your landscape.
