The ability to apply statistical techniques to data, cultivate a strong understanding of databases, and develop a knowledge of data handling programming languages has now become an essential skill of a good environmental technician. In this course, students will build on their statistical skills using Excel and recognize its utility for data organization, analysis, and presentation. Students will also practice database organization and making queries using Access. In addition, students will explore data programming languages such as, structured query language (SQL) using PostgreSQL. Students will use specific software libraries for basic data manipulation including different libraries for data visualization, understanding data structures and data analysis tools.
