Description:

In this course, you will build on your prior understanding of chemistry concepts to appreciate the importance of chemical applications within the environmental industry. You will review the principles of inorganic and organic chemistry and examine concepts relevant to current environmental challenges in water, soil and the atmosphere. There will be ample opportunities to develop chemical techniques in the lab, including keeping detailed lab records and collecting and presenting precise, accurate data in practical formats. Lab topics will include WHMIS training, lab safety, measurement, solution preparation, introduction to chemical reactions, concentrations, pH and other properties of aqueous solutions.
