This course builds on the concepts and procedures introduced in previous Wind Energy studies to provide the student with a working knowledge of the operational characteristics of utility-scale wind turbines. The student will learn how to calculate average wind speeds based on local terrain and other obstructions. The student will have hands-on interaction with AC Power Generation devices and will be exposed to the construction process of a wind turbine, from the first dig to commissioning. Emphasis will be placed on hands-on interaction with laboratory trainers, with detailed coverage of the individual components of a utility-scale wind turbine.
