Description:

This course is an advanced study of modern small- and large-scale wind turbines. For large-scale wind turbines, the material covers aerodynamics, mechanical and electrical components, electrical grid connections, and wind turbine control mechanisms. It also involves the mathematics of calculating the amount of energy available in the wind and the mechanisms that limit or reduce the efficiency of the conversion from mechanical to electrical power. This course will begin to equip the student with the necessary terminology and skills required to enter the Wind Energy field.
