Description:

In this course, students will learn about industrial control systems and will be able to distinguish between open- and closed-loop systems. Students will also learn about feed-forward control, manufacturing processes, types of instruments and equipment used, and standard electronic and pneumatic transmission signals. Students will be able to define P&ID, balloon symbols, tag numbers, and various types of information on a title block and explain the operational characteristics of open- and closed-loop systems, On-Off control systems, Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) continuous control modes. Students will also be introduced to the simulation software Automation Studio and learn how to build Electro-Hydraulic, Electro-Pneumatic, Digital Electronic, Electro-Technical, Sequential Function Chart (SFC), and PLC Circuits.
