This is a course for the study of advanced digital systems. Digital concepts presented in class are applied to lab exercises using FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) on an Altera development board and a microchip in house development board. Using the Altera to implement VHDL arithmetic system, RAM light sequencer system, and interface a Hitachi HD44780 a "Dot Matrix Display" (DMD). Using assembly language and the microchip embedded system, students will apply their skills to add numbers, read data from switches, count on bar LEDs, use lookup tables, use software timers, use hardware timers, interface a 7 segment LED display, interface a DMD, and interface a matrix keypad.
