Description:

This course provides a solid understanding of the core concepts and techniques of industrial automatic control. The course begins with the hardware basics of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including memory organization, hardware components, and various controller options. Students learn basic wiring for the I/O modules' inputs and outputs. The course emphasizes programming the PLC. Topics include: fundamentals of logic, basic PLC programming instructions, timers, counters, math, and shift register instructions. Real-world programming is simulated through virtual industrial plants, where students can interact with all facets of the processes. The final element of this course includes information on I/O devices, SCADA, process control and PLC installation, maintenance and safety.
