Go to Course Outline

Code:

ELEC1631P

Admit Term:

2028 Fall 1284

Credits:

5

Description:

In this course, you will study the deleterious effects of power system harmonics and apply techniques to mitigate harmonic effects on power systems. You will learn to measure and characterize the harmonic content generated by typical 3 phase industrial and single phase commercial loads by learning detailed harmonic analysis. Last term you studied balanced 3 phase faults on a power system. This term, you will extend your understanding of system faults to protect against unbalanced faults, by using the mathematical tool of symmetrical components. Finally, you will be introduced to the topic of power system stability, and factors affecting it.
