Description:

In this overview course, you will orient yourself to typical or common characteristics of groups of students that have been identified as exceptional pupils as defined by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The current categories/subcategories of exceptionality will be investigated in terms of definitions, early identification, diagnosis, causes and treatments. Evidence based supportive strategies designed to help learners within each category of exceptionality will be explored. Use of a variety of research sources, case studies, universal design and differentiated instruction/learning are key components of the course design.
