This course will increase awareness of philosophical and legal foundations of special education in Ontario schools along with the processes. You will gain an understanding of early identification, transition planning, the IPRC and IEP processes, special education services, roles and responsibilities including that of the educational assistant that are designed to promote optimal learning. Current best practices that foster the creation and maintenance of a safe, inclusive educational environment will also be explored.
