This course will increase awareness of philosophical and legal foundations of special education in Ontario schools along with the processes and issues for implementation. You will gain an understanding of early identification, assessment and transition planning, the IPRC and IEP processes, special education services, roles and responsibilities including that of the educational assistant. Barriers to success will be exposed and educational best practices and supportive strategies designed to create optimal learning experiences will be introduced.
