Building on Dental Hygiene Principles and Professionalism I, this course advances students' knowledge and application of the Dental Hygiene Process of Care, including comprehensive assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation. Students will use critical thinking and evidence-informed decision-making to develop individualized care plans for clients with uncomplicated oral health needs. The course explores health determinants, nutritional assessment and counselling, oral disease prevention, and the dental hygienist's diverse roles in client-centred care. Professional responsibility, ethical practice, quality assurance, self-regulation, cultural humility, interprofessional collaboration, and lifelong learning are examined within the framework of provincial legislation and professional standards.
