This course is designed to introduce you to the counselling process, including the counsellor's characteristics and the support of the child and youth, from a client-centred perspective. You will have the opportunity to become familiar with a selection of counselling/helping techniques and frameworks used in various settings. You will learn principles such as relational practice and life space concerning cultural and human diversity. This course will address some of the problems encountered in counselling and promote communication and organizational skills. You will develop the knowledge of self-care strategies and self-awareness to enhance your ability as a child and youth care practitioner.
