In this course, you will examine the role of the practical nurse when caring for individuals with chronic health challenges. You will develop the critical-thinking skills needed to plan and implement holistic nursing care in the lab and in a variety of chronic care clinical settings. You will apply nursing theory to assess clients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate client outcomes. In the lab setting, you will develop competence with a variety of nursing interventions including (but not limited to) catheterization, medication administration, and intravenous (IV) therapy. You will optimize your ability to develop therapeutic nurse-client relationships framed within the College of Nurses' (CNOs') values of client well-being, client choice, privacy and confidentiality, respect for life, maintaining commitments, truthfulness, and fairness.
