Description:

This course investigates the managerial aspects of a construction project, from inception to contract award. It will illustrate the organizational hierarchy of the construction industry. The various approaches to design and construction will be reviewed and the various types of contracting methods and contracts considered. Project scheduling will be done using computer software to develop Gantt Charts illustrating the Critical Path of all activities. The financial requirements, insurance and bonding requirements to produce a structure will be reviewed. The Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects will be covered.
