Description:

In this course, you will develop the knowledge and skills required for the design and detailing of structural steel building components. Using the limit-state design methodology, various types of structural steel members and connections are designed. Included are the designs of beams, columns, tension members, and bolted connections in accordance with the CAN/CSA-S16-1(R05), Limit States Design of Steel Structures. Students will prepare engineering and shop drawings for the fabrication of structural steel members.

Prerequisites for this course

  • CIVL1421 - Strength of Materials AND
  • CAPT1515 - CAD II
