Description:

You will be introduced to the role of estimating in the construction industry and review the various types of estimates used. You will use basic mensuration and mathematical formulae to solve problems in construction practices. These formulae will form the foundation of the remainder of the course. You will calculate the quantities of excavation and backfill through earth and multi-strata substrate. You will apply mathematical formulae and electronic measuring to determine cut and fill quantities for site grading, large-volume earth fill, and excavations. You will apply mathematical formulae to determine the cut and fill quantities for parking lots and earth-fill dams. You will use Microsoft Excel to quantify take-off procedures to increase accuracy and productivity.
