Code:
CAPT1226PAdmit Term:
2022 Fall 1224Credits:
3Description:
Introducing manufacturing automation, this course concentrates on the application of computer numerical control (CNC) lathes and mills in manufacturing operations. The subject matter is divided into theoretical and practical components, providing the student with the basic concepts and procedures to use industrial standard CNC code in the programming of a variety of automated cutting operations. Classroom presentations and activities will demonstrate the application of machinability concepts and the use of CAD to assist in manually developing programs for 2-axis CNC lathes and 3-axis milling machines. Simulation and demonstration activities will use several of these programs to teach the operation of the various CNC lathes and mills found in the Integrated Technologies Laboratory.
