In this course, you will explore cannabis genetics and breeding, from Mendelian principles to advanced molecular techniques. You will learn how to develop and select new cannabis cultivars, enhance cannabinoid and terpene profiles, and apply breeding strategies for traits like disease resistance, plant structure and yield. The course covers critical regulatory frameworks, including plant breeders' rights (PBR) and plant variety protection (PVP), and teaches you how to navigate the commercialization of new cultivars. Through practical labs, you will gain hands-on experience with breeding techniques, genetic analysis, and environmental interactions to optimize cannabis plant performance.
