Description:

Students will be introduced to the biology, evolution, and history of cannabis. They will explore the influence of human cultivation on the evolution of cannabis and the reasons for human interest in it. They will also identify the cannabis plant's dioecious nature and photoperiodic responses and the influence human cultivation has had on these characteristics. Students will analyze the biochemicals that impart unique properties to the cannabis palm and investigate the complex biosynthetic pathways contributing to its development. They will also assess how these biochemicals interact with the human body and contribute to cannabis's psychoactive properties.
