In this course, learners discuss current population, environmental, and global health issues using a health promotion and upstream thinking approach. Learners explore principles and processes related to diversity and inclusivity, epidemiology, determinants of population health, and environmental and global health issues, while considering the impact of globalization on specific populations and settings. Learners will focus on the social construction of societal inequities. Learners will critically examine health determinants and outcomes, power inequities, and marginalized populations in relation to access and provision of services. Learners must integrate the concepts of working with diverse populations into their evolving nursing practice.
