This course introduces learners to foundational concepts essential to the discipline of nursing. Learners will examine nursing as a profession, including the history and evolution of nursing practice. They will explore the concepts of client-centred care, professional practice, and theory-based knowledge, including the nursing process, caring, health promotion and illness prevention, and the importance of research as a basis for practice. They will learn how critical thinking influences nursing practice. Various strategies will be used to support learners' exploration of these concepts.
