Description:

This course - a continuation of the Apiary Management I course - will further hone and develop the necessary skills involved in the operation of typical Apiary used in the commercial beekeeping industry. Students will explore the practical implications of hive attrition and how to plan for expected losses year over year. Seasonal cycles and their impact of honey bee activity will also be examined from an operational perspective and applied to the Niagara College's Apiary. Students will also actively participate and gain knowledge in the management of an Apiary assisting with the maintenance and procedures use for the overwintering of the hives.
