In this course, you will investigate advanced cellular and genetic concepts and processes essential to produce and sustain living organisms. Concepts of microscopy, membrane structure and function, organelles, cellular respiration and metabolism, cell division (mitosis and meiosis), cancer, DNA biology and technology, gene expression, Mendelian genetics and genetic counselling, and evolution will be investigated through various print and electronic resources. This course is designed to engage you to become critical of controversial and innovative applications of biological concepts through research of scholarly journals, problem sets, documentaries and discussions.
