This course examines the principles and successful practices in human resource management, and underscores the business strategies that attract, develop and retain high quality employees in a hospitality setting. Effective management practices and the role of the supervisor in selection, compensation, performance appraisal and labour relations will be covered in detail, particularly with respect to current Canadian labour market challenges and opportunities. The course will emphasize the human resources management goal of creating and managing flexible and resilient teams who successfully facilitate the hospitality experience of an international clientele.
