This practical, two-part course introduces students to the key drivers and core principles of financial and human resources management for the beverage alcohol industry. In the first half (6 weeks) of the course, you will critically assess human resources strategies, tools and practices in Canadian and international organizations including organization design and effectiveness, change management, job analysis, talent management and staffing (recruitment and selection), training and development (including diversity initiatives), performance management, incentives and total rewards systems, internal communication and employee relations. In the second half of the course (8 weeks), you will explore the main financial statements and understand the key drivers of financial performance, familiarizing yourself with income (P&L) statements and balance sheets while learning about capital investments, cash flow, and cost of goods sold, equity, budgeting and other key financial terms.
