This course will take the students through the development of power train controls, spending the majority of time on modern ignition and fuel controls and how total vehicle strategy will affect the performance. Parts of this course will build on prior knowledge of how the engine emission strategy may affect or be affected by the Power Control Module's (PCM's) own strategy. Students will research the development of the automotive ignition system and the important role it plays in reducing emissions and improving performance. The interrelationship between the ignition system and the fuel delivery system will be investigated.
