Description:

Students will explore the properties of gasoline and diesel fuel systems and the properties of combustion. Air flow through intake and exhaust systems will be discussed and lab exercises will be performed to increase and reinforce understanding. Basic electronics will be studied in order to understand their implementation on emission control devices. The design and function of emission control devices will be explored to build an understanding of how emission controls operate and how they affect engine performance, economy and tailpipe emissions.
