Description:

Apprentices follow the Ontario College of Trades curriculum for the trade of Welder and Metal Fabricator (Fitter). This course outlines functions and controls of welding power sources, fundamentals of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Metal Cored Arc Welding (MCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), in accordance with government safety regulations, manufacturer's recommendations and approved industry standards. Lessons will be a combination of classroom and practical instruction, demonstration and participation. This course provides the apprentice with the building blocks required to advance their knowledge and understanding through on-the-job training.
