Description:

This course is designed to provide the student with the basic principles medical billing in Ontario including specialty areas within a medical office setting. Students will learn how to use the Schedule of Benefits and Preambles of the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC) to produce accurate billing records. Simulation projects are based on medical office scenarios utilizing a computerized EMR system (CMS) to simulate scheduling and health claims payable by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), Workers Safety Insurance Plan (WSIB), and private billing practices.
