As we continue to work closely with municipal partners to identify ways to ease delays and traffic congestion caused by the full-time support staff strike, we have opened a second access point at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
As of Sept. 18, a second entrance is now open via Niagara Corporate Business Centre (NCBC) entrance, off of Glendale Avenue, providing an additional option for those travelling to the campus. The main campus entrance at Taylor Road remains open.
Barriers between the NCBC and campus lots have been removed to ensure access to campus via the NCBC entrance.
This decision follows a review of traffic impacts during the first week of the labour disruption. In consultation with the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Region, and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Department, NC is re-opening the Niagara Corporate Business Centre (NCBC)/campus access road to help improve traffic flow and support emergency response access.
Please note that union picketing is permitted at all campus entrances, including the NCBC entrance, and delays are expected to continue for the duration of the strike. Picketing is expected to begin as early as 7 a.m.
Parking in the NCBC lot adjacent to campus is still not permitted for Niagara College students, employees and visitors and enforcement will remain in place for this lot. When entering campus via Lampman Court, please proceed to park in the main campus lots. A map of campus lots is available here.
A reminder to consider using public transit during the strike. All Niagara College students have access to a UPASS that provides Niagara Regional Transit services across Niagara. For more information, see the NCSAC website.
