Yesterday, the provincial government announced additional measures related to the stay-at-home order issued on April 8, 2021 including a two-week extension of the current province-wide shutdown.

Niagara College is carefully monitoring information related to the new measures and does not expect any changes to operations including classes scheduled this week.

The province also announced enhanced enforcement measures under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. Following the announcement, Niagara Regional Police issued a statement indicating that they will not conduct random vehicle or individual stops. This means students travelling to campus for scheduled classes or labs do not need special documentation indicating they are a student at Niagara College.

Niagara College is reminding all members of the college community to follow provincial safety orders and to only leave home for essential purposes which, under the order, include school and work that is essential or cannot be done from home.

If you must leave your home for essential trips, continue to wear facemasks in public spaces, practice physical distancing and proper hand-hygiene. If you experience any symptoms at all, stay home, isolate and get tested.

Together, we are working towards a brighter future.
